Ingredients
– 1 bone-in ham or large ham roast (4–6 lb)
– 1 cup brown sugar
– 1/2 cup honey
– 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
– 1/4 cup apple juice or pineapple juice
– 2 tablespoons butter
– 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
– 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
– Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the ham: Place the ham in a slow cooker, with the cut side facing down.
2. Make the glaze: Mix brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, juice, melted butter, garlic, and cinnamon in a bowl.
3. Add the sauce: Pour the glaze evenly over the ham, coating it generously.
4. Slow cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, depending on the ham’s size and whether it is fully cooked or raw.
5. Baste: Spoon the sauce over the ham occasionally to keep it moist and flavorful.
6. Caramelize: For a darker, sticky crust, transfer the ham to a baking dish and broil for 3–5 minutes, watching carefully.
7. Serve: Let it rest briefly, slice or pull apart the tender meat, and drizzle with the rich brown sugar sauce.
Serving Suggestion
Serve warm with roasted potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a fresh salad.
Tip: Cooking time depends on the type and size of ham. Check the package instructions and use a food thermometer to ensure it reaches a safe internal temperature.
